Tranquility from the Mountain Top
The Healing Qualities of Oregano Oil
Here at High Vibe, there’s always a seasonal approach to things. The right stuff at the right time can make you feel on top of the world. And perhaps one of the best things for a season of cold, coughing and other irritations is a dose of Oregano Oil.
Oregano Oil is an Essential Oil derived from the herb Oregano. The name Oregano means “Delight of the Mountains,” because of the plant’s tendency to thrive in high altitudes.
The strength that allows for the clean, healthy growth of the plant is also passed on to us humans through its Essential Oil. Fortunately, thanks to Oreganol, we don’t all have to journey up a mountain to distill it.
The folks at Oreganol bring Oregano Oil to shelves as a non-GMO, wild blend that comes in liquid or capsule form, direct from the Mediterranean, and for a small amount of liquid, it packs quite a punch! You can find it here:
Why Oregano Oil?
Oregano Oil is useful because of its versatility. It has been known to provide aid and relief with several different situations, ranging from actively fighting disease, to preventing it in the first place, to literally easing the strain of aging on the body! Oregano Oil’s versatile uses come from the unique combination of chemicals that compose it, which include:
Carvacrol: a phenol that possesses anti-bacterial properties
Rosmarinic Acid: an antioxidant and antihistamine that reduces swelling and helps with allergic reactions
Thymol: a phenol that fights fungal infections and protects against toxins.
On top of the disease fighting qualities of the oil, its numerous antioxidants (which include the phenols mentioned above) have been shown to help to slow the wear and tear that free radicals cause on the body, essentially easing the strain of aging itself. But don’t just take our word for it:

Using Oregano Oil
There are as many ways to use Oregano Oil as there are things that can be treated by it. Here are some of our favorite examples:
For a cold, a cough, bronchitis, or allergies that cause respiratory trouble: a Steam Inhalation can work wonders! Add a few drops to boiling water, put a towel on your head, and inhale the vapors for 5-10 minutes.
For an upset stomach, add 1-2 drops to a cup of warm lemon or peppermint tea and sip. Thyme synergizes with Oregano Oil nicely for stomach soothing!
To aid immunity, add 2-3 drops to an edible carrier oil, such as olive or coconut oil, and place it under your tongue. Swish it around there for a minute, then spit it out. Do so before bed daily.
To reduce the wear and tear of aging on the skin, mix 20 drops with ¼ cup coconut oil (remember: it’s solid at room temperature) and ¼ cup moringa oil. Apply on your face daily.

Oregano Oil is a “hot” oil, and can cause skin irritation, which is why it should be combined with carrier oils. Also, do not take Oreganol if pregnant. If you are concerned about taking Oreganol, make sure that you consult a doctor first.
